Whether you've listened all year long or just recently turned on and tuned in to our scrappy lil station, you've noticed we've been spinning the region's best and most eclectic mix of music. And now as the year comes to a close, we're rounding up some of our favorite albums and moments of 2016. Many thanks to all of our DJs and volunteers for making this a banner year for community radio in Asheville. We look forward to many, many more to come! And now... some of our staff selects the releases, shows, songs and more that made the year...

Did you know that AshevilleFM streams online and even has a TuneIn App?

About Us

Asheville Free Media is a volunteer-based, grassroots community radio station created by Friends of Community Radio, a non-profit entity. Our goal is to add to and reflect the rich stew of arts, culture and community involvement that is Asheville. We want to hear music, news, and the unusual all produced right here in our neck of the woods. We want to hear sounds from around the world, discerned and distilled just for us by our neighbors. We want to help make connections between diverse groups and support the local economy of ideas.
