Exclusive Asheville FM release of "Lock and Load"

Posted by Nathan Ellis

Even if you can't see Russia from your house, you can hear this special release no matter where you live! As a timely follow up to the "Ignore Sarah Palin Week," Billy and Susan Norton will be appearing live on Community Countdown this Thursday to talk about their new release "Lock and Load," a political protest song of sorts...
I can safely say that Asheville FM is the only place that you will hear this song in the next week as it was just delivered to the station as an exclusive pre-release!!!
Tune in Thursday 6pm-8pm for a gaffe-tastic evening!

Where can I find 'Lock and Load' on Youtube? Or is it on some other site? Sounds (sorry for the pun) like the Nortons are doing cool things with music, and I'd like to hear more. :-)

(P.S. ~ Excellent playlist, by the way!)

Cool show and interview. Top 10 songs were great, especially Lock & Load at the end of the show. Can't wait to see youtube video.. lol

Billy and Susan Norton have been playing music since they were kids and even learned the same first song. "Little Brown Jug". From elementary school through high school and college both were involved in art as well as music but for many years, Billy concentrated more on music while Susan concentrated more on art. Both of them were writing and performing protest songs during the Vietnam era; Billy was drafted in 1972 and left WCU the day Susan arrived. They met the day he returned from the Army in '74.
Both got caught up in the corporate world of work and finally started playing music together after getting out of the rat race. Susan moved back to Asheville in 2002 and Billy moved back to Franklin. In May, 2010 they participated in "Facebook's "The Songwriter Lounge benefit concert at the Rathskeller in Franklin, NC. They teamed up with Robin Yost, who started recording and mixing some of their original material. Sarah Palin had just put the 'crosshairs' map up when they were preparing for the Songwriter Lounge show, and they decided to write a new song the day before they were to play, finishing it just in time to perform it that night. Both had followed the election of 2008 closely and felt there was a message that needed to be put out there. This first song to be released was their reaction to the political issues of an agenda they opposed. The result of their collaboration is "Lock and Load". A YouTube video of "Lock and Load" will be uploaded soon after Thursday's show.
