A “punk radio” show is only a moderately accurate description for CFR. Think of it more as punk radio for those too cynical and jaded with punk rock to want to listen to it all the time. Current and classic tunes from various forms of rock, soul, blues, rap, country, cheesy pop, etc. are always possible, sometimes in the form of a ridiculous curve ball. wheeee...top 20!

On the next CFR, it's the top 20 bands/artists of the broadcasts of 2011. The crescest of the cres. Old and new, influenced by requests, plays, etc. Everything else regarding the year of 2011 is inferior to this broadcast. You'd do best to enjoy it!

no presents for you!

It's that time of year again! A few buddies are stopping by the Asheville FM studios to hang out and listen to some choice jams including a small handful of Christmas track (and not the same songs you hear all the time on several other dumb boring radio stations). Join us, won't you?

fuck romance

Over the past week, I discovered news of the separation of Sonic Youth's iconic couple Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore...and let me just say there is no couple in the world that are still alive I never wanted to see this happen to more than these two people I've never met. Sonic Youth, a band of 30 years running, have been my favourite band since the age of 12 and obviously a huge influence on not only my musical tastes and influences but my life in general. And for 27 years, starting between their first and second LPs, their marriage has existed as well.

What does this all mean? What of the future of Sonic Youth? And furthermore, what in the goddamned hell is up with love yall?! I mean, seriously, is it ever real, true? What is the point? Why do people long for it so? It never ends well (except on the rare occasion that you both die at the same time while still madly "in love"...but if that doesn't happen you're screwed).

Tonight we'll work on getting through this. I scored some new records. I have some sidetracking topics up for discussion. Stay up late and I swear we'll get through all of this together...but without love. That stuff is horrible!

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Goodbye 80s night. Opening bands for Future Islands are both exciting, hate not, brother! No wait, your hate is one of my favorite media in the world.

What the? Where are you disappearing off to after next week?

I always enjoy isolated incidents of the Ramones way more than i expect to.

What's this next-to-last edition bullshit, now? am i gonna have to make some empty threats?

Archived streams of the show from Monday 2/8 at Static Age now up and linked below! Big thanks necessary to so many for helping keep things together: Greg and Joe from AshFM as well as all the DJ's who helped be our eyes at the studio, Jayro of Hi-Five Recordings, Static Age Records, all the bands, and of course everyone who came out or tuned in!

SCREAMING FEMALES

JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD

TENT CITY ROLLERS

Do you know anything about some British ex-Sparks (meaning the musicians that played on Sparks albums.. neither of the Maels) 70s band called Jet?
Do you have anything by them? There's some shit band called Jet around these days, so it's really hard to search these guys. I have only ever been able to get one song by them but it's sooo good! Anyway, I thought if anyone would have a lead, it'd be you.

This Christie Yamaguchis thing is good!

I LOVE THIS SONG (Eno)!

And you can expect more comments like this. Let me know if this is a problem. <3T

ps: How exciting! My computer is letting me play streaming audio! This never happens!

Yes. Yes Jeremy Enigk sounded like Perry Farrell in that later stuff. Ew.

On Monday, February 8th, there will be an AMAZING show at Static Age and we'll be broadcasting it LIVE! SCREAMING FEMALES (New Brunswick, NJ) and JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD (Nashville, TN) will be bringin' it to ya! Also playing: TENT CITY ROLLERS (JD from Asheville FM's silly lil rock band). Showtime is at 8PM with the first band playing around 9:30. Come out or tune in right here!

...but before Monday's show at Static Age, I will be giving away a pair of tics on air during Wednesday night's broadcast of Crescent Fresh Radio! So maybe you can save a few bucks while you check out a few rockin' tunes, eh?
