Starting last Friday and continuing on until this Friday evening is Asheville’s Strive Week, May 12-19. Strive Week, or Strive Not to Drive, according to its webpage, ‘asks those who travel within Buncombe, Haywood, and Henderson counties to move in the healthiest, happiest, most sustainable ways possible. The website writes that ‘Whether commuting, running errands, or just out enjoying your cities, when you leave your car behind, you open the journey up to more connections.’
On Tuesday morning, in our very own West Asheville, West Willmore and Mark Strazzer of the Rainbow Community School set up a table with snacks for commuters sans car. Reporting from the field is news team correspondent Andrew Rainey with a variety of voices of organizers and participants from the hour long event last Tuesday morning.
