For the past two years I’ve been pulling out all the stops and putting my considerable research skills to the test in an attempt to track down the forgotten rock ‘n’ roll records of the Carolinas. Picking up the trail, naturally enough, in Asheville, it wasn’t long before I made my way down the mountain to Greenville, South Carolina. In 1965 there were no professional studios in Asheville at which a young rock ‘n’ roll combo could cut a record. Many, if not most, of these kids found their way to Mark V Recording Studios in Greenville.
