My daughter's public elementary school media center, formerly and still sort of the library, has one of the most state of the art, up to date production studios. Every morning a news show goes out over the televisions throughout the school. It has 3 news anchors, a green screen puppet segment, live feeds from different class rooms done with iPads, prerecorded segments and even live animation. It is completely run by 5th graders who do every part of the camera work, editing, switching between feeds and writing the daily content.

The Josh Tillman I had the pleasure of seeing perform last night at the Orange Peel was markedly changed from the Josh Tillman I had the pleasure of seeing perform in Tucson , AZ back in 2013. Both men were captivating entertainers, both insanely sexy, sassy and theatrical. Both had a voice so clear and rich and resonant -- flawless, really -- that it still continues to bewilder me. To think this man was tucked behind a drum kit for however long that he was a Fleet Fox!

I should be working on my master's thesis right now, but sometimes the urge to write about Neil Young is irresistible. Just yesterday I experienced -- two times in a row -- his album On the Beach, released in 1974, a couple years after Harvest and just one year prior to Tonight's the Night. How I managed to live 33 years without ever hearing (or hearing of) this gem, only to have a 27-year-old tell me about it, is beyond me. But thank god for that 27-year-old!
