The Invisible Worm

Invisible Worm
Genre:
Mixed

The Invisible Worm flies through the night through the howling storm each week to resurrect for two hours the dear ghosts of rhizomatic power-pop and vernacular music from allover time and space. Every Monday night Shaina brings you startlingly fresh field recordings, home recordings, gut-wrenching gospel, birds and insects alike. Spooky, spoon-bendingly twee, a little radical revisionist music history, the occasional expert witness or live performance.

Lash yourselves to the masts, my dears. Lots of chanteuserie this week, in French and English, and some lush orchestrations to feather a nest for some of the most poignant secular Christmas carols you've ever heard. Darian is to Winter what the Beach Boys are to Summer, as we brace ourselves for the Dogwood Frost. A jangle of shells from extinct mollusks, starting at 8.

Oh Rose, thou art sick...
The invisible worm that flies in the night in the howling storm
has found out thy bed of crimson joy
and his dark secret love does thy life destroy

Shaina- we met briefly at the North Asheville library today. Thanks for hooking me up with the station- I love the idea, and I'm enjoying your show. Damn I need to get that usb turntable I've talked about getting for a million years- you reminded me of the stuff I've got on vinyl and haven't been able to hear in years. Best Wishes- hope to keep in touch with you-
