The Final Straw is a weekly anarchist and anti-authoritarian radio show bringing you voices and ideas from struggle around the world. Since 2010, we’ve been broadcasting from occupied Cherokee land in Southern Appalachia (Asheville, NC). We also frequently feature commentary (serious and humorous) by anarchist prisoner, Sean Swain.

The Final Straw has been operating since mid-2010 out of AshevilleFM.org, a freeform internet radio station in Asheville, North Carolina now broadcasting at WSFM-LP, 103.3 FM! The show is currently being rebroadcast on 88.1FM KWTF in Bodega Bay, CA. In Columbus, Ohio, we can be heard on WCRS-LP at 102.1 & 98.3 FM. In Olympia, Washington you can hear the show on the airwaves of KOWA-LP on 106.5 FM. And now, we can be heard Monday and Tuesday mornings on KWRK-LP at 90.9FM in Fairbanks, AK.   • Release Ramsey Orta! / Housing Struggle in Asheville
    April 12th, 2020

    First we hear from Deja, the fiance of incarcerated copwatcher Ramsey Orta (who has been persecuted for recording the police killing of Eric Garner in 2014) who is currently being denied personal cleaning items by staff at Midstate CI in New York state. Deja is seeking support to pressure NY to releases Ramsey who is less than 90 days from the end of his sentence for a nonviolent conviction. Then, two members of Unemployed Humans Organizing Help who are organizing rent resistance and lobbying for housing relief for houseless members of the community.​

  • Josh Harper of SHAC7 and Voices from Gidimt’en Access Point
    February 9th, 2020

    This week, we feature two portions of the show. First up, we’ll hear Josh Harper, a co-defendant from the SHAC7 case and former political prisoner talking the struggle to shut down the company, Huntington Life Sciences, a contract animal testing laboratory, which is the focus of a recent documentary, ‘Animal People.’ Then, you’ll hear the voices of three warriors who were on the barricade on the road to Unist’ot’en Camp at the Gidimt’en Access Point. Eve Saint (Wet’suwet’en land defender), Anne Spice (Tlinket land defender) and Shiloh Hill (from Onandaga nation, Haudenosaunee, Six Nations) were there to defend unceded Wet’suwet’en land from the Canadian state’s violent imposition of the Coastal Gas Link pipeline.
